Shiv Sena Founded by Bal Thackerey, this party, with the election symbol of a bow and arrow pointing upwards, follows the ideology of Hindu Nationalism. It is a far-right party with Uddhav Thackerey as the chairperson.
Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) The BJP, with the election symbol of a lotus, is the party that the current Prime Minister belongs to. Allied to the National Democratic Alliance, this party has Amit Shah as its president, while Narendra Modi remains the Lok Sabha leader.
Indian National Congress (INC) The Indian National Congress follows the policy of democratic socialism. The election symbol for this party is a right hand, with President as Sonia Gandhi. It is allied to the United Progressive Alliance.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) The Nationalist Congress Party, with the election symbol of a clock, is a centrist nationalist party. With the ideology of Indian nationalism, this party is presided over by Sharad Pawar.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena is a regional party based in Maharashtra with a pro- Marathi ideology. Led and chaired by Raj Thackerey, the MNS' election symbol is a steam engine, and operates on the motto ‘Sons of the Soil.'
Samajwadi Party The Samajwadi Party, with President Akhilesh Yadav, follows the ideologies of secularism, liberalism and democratic socialism. With the election symbol of a cycle, this party is headquartered in New Delhi.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) The Bahujan Samaj Party follows the ideologies of human rights, social equality, secularism and social justice. Led by President Mayawati, this party has the election symbol of an elephant.
